Giants
vs.
Redskins
Thursday
Night NFL Pick
9/25/14
The Redskins will host the New York Giants on this weeks edition of Thursday Night football, which can be seen at 825pm est. on CBS-TV. 5 dimes sportsbook opened this Game with the Redskins favored by -5.5 and the line now sits at Washington -4 with a total of 45.5.
This was oNCe a highly anticipated matchup which frequently determined playoff positioning in the NFC. It may very well still determine playoff positioning but these two teams are currently nothing more than shells of the former selves. That being said, this still has the makings of an entertaining, close football Game.
The Redskins are 1-2 with their lone win coming against the hapless Jags, 41-10. Their losses came to the Texans, 17-6, and the Eagles last week, 37-34. Their leader, QB RG3, went down early in the Jags Game but was replaced admirably by Kirk Cousins. It’s always been this handicappers opinion that Cousins could start for just about any other NFL team and some day, will be the #1, be it in D.C. or elsewhere.
The Giants are also 1-2, finally breaking into the win column last week with a 30-17 win over the Texans. Their losses came at the hands of the Lions and Cards and in both Games the G-Men managed just 14 points. Could the Giants and their new West Coast offense have finally turned the corner?
The Redskins are a banged up buNCh. They listed 17 players on their injury report this week which is 1/3 of their roster. Among them are DeAngelo Hall (ruptured left Achilles) and safety Duke Ihenacho (broken left foot) When you combine the injuries the Skins have on their defense with the thought that the Giants offense is likely starting to hum, that spells trouble for the Redskins on Thursday night.
Even without the injuries, Our Score Prediction model had this Game pegged as a high scoring, back and forth affair decided by just a point or two and based on both teams performances last week, that seems about right. Therefore, we have to grab any points available here, which in this case, is +4. Giants +4
